Senior Processor Architect
FractileJob Title
Senior Processor Architect
Role Summary
As Senior Processor Architect you will define and own the architecture of Fractile's core compute engines, ISA and programming models, memory hierarchies, and on-chip interconnects. You will translate architectural intent into implementable specifications and work directly with modelling, RTL, physical design and verification teams to deliver silicon that meets performance and power targets.
Hands-on responsibilities include performance modelling, specification writing, bottleneck analysis, and pre/post-silicon validation.
Experience Level
Senior β typically 7+ years of relevant processor or high-performance computing architecture experience.
Responsibilities
Core responsibilities include:
- Define and own compute engine architecture specifications balancing performance, flexibility, power, area and complexity.
- Lead architectural exploration from concept through specification, coordinating modelling, implementation, verification and physical design.
- Specify execution units, memory hierarchy, instruction sets and flows; make principled trade-offs.
- Develop and maintain performance models and simulators to guide decisions.
- Collaborate with system architecture and software teams to ensure real-world application performance.
- Evaluate emerging techniques (compact number formats, novel compute paradigms, packaging) to inform the roadmap.
- Mentor engineers on performance analysis and architectural documentation; represent architecture in reviews and customer discussions.
Requirements
Must-have:
- Proven experience as a Processor, CPU or GPU Architect or equivalent in semiconductor/high-performance computing domains.
- Deep knowledge of compute engine architecture, matrix/vector floating-point arithmetic and memory hierarchies.
- Strong understanding of RTL design flows and physical design constraints and their impact on architecture.
- Experience taking processor designs from exploration through tapeout and post-silicon performance characterization.
- Demonstrated ability to define and manage performance and power budgets and make complex trade-offs.
- Experience working across architecture, modelling, implementation, verification and software teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, able to bridge architecture and system/product context.
- May require eligibility checks for export-controlled technologies and security clearance compliance.
Nice-to-have:
- Background in AI acceleration, vector/matrix compute or domain-specific processors.
- Experience with performance modelling tools (gem5, SystemC, or custom cycle-accurate simulators).
- Familiarity with compiler and toolchain interactions and software mapping to hardware.
- Prior start-up or scale-up experience and comfort with fast iteration and ambiguity.
Education Requirements
Not specified.
