Senior Process Development Engineer — GaN (m/f/d)
Role Summary
The Process Development Engineer will join the R&D GaN team to develop, qualify and scale semiconductor process modules for Gallium Nitride power devices. The role focuses on translating device concepts into manufacturable process flows and improving device performance, reliability and manufacturability.
Works closely with fab, device and design engineers to run DOEs, evaluate process alternatives (etch, deposition, metallization, passivation, etc.), and drive technology transfer into production.
Experience Level

Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include leading process development activities for GaN devices and ensuring their manufacturability and scalability.
- Lead development of GaN process modules (etch, deposition, metallization, passivation) to improve device performance.
- Collaborate with fab engineers to ensure manufacturability, stability and scalability of new technologies.
- Work with design and device engineers to translate concepts into detailed process flows.
- Explore new materials, process chemistries and integration schemes to advance performance and reliability.
- Design and execute DOE experiments, analyze results, and identify optimal process conditions.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and attributes, plus preferred items.
- Strong background in GaN or III-V semiconductor process technology.
- Hands-on clean-room semiconductor fabrication experience.
- Proficiency in data analysis and statistical tools for process evaluation.
- Strong problem-solving and continuous-improvement mindset; able to work in cross-functional teams.
- Good English communication skills, both written and spoken.
- Nice to have: Previous semiconductor industry experience; German language skills.
Education Requirements
Master's or Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering or Solid-State Physics, or equivalent practical experience. Relevant education/experience in semiconductor processing, especially GaN technology, is required.
