Senior Principal Vision and AI Engineer

Role Summary

Lead development of advanced vision pipelines and AI-based vision solutions for automotive and industrial & IoT applications on MPU/MCU platforms. Work within R&D to define system and software architecture, build prototypes and proofs-of-concept, and validate performance against product requirements.

The role collaborates closely with hardware, software, and system architecture teams and provides technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams.

Experience Level

Senior — typically 15+ years of experience in vision, embedded systems, or related domains.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include architecture definition, prototyping, and technical evaluation of vision and AI solutions.

• Explore and benchmark vision subsystem architectures.
• Perform technical competitive analysis and technology scouting.
• Define and evaluate performance and quality metrics for vision pipelines.
• Develop and assess AI-based vision solutions from concept to proof-of-concept.
• Build simulation and prototyping environments for validation.
• Design and develop Linux drivers and high-level use-case prototypes.
• Collaborate with hardware, software, and system architecture teams to integrate solutions.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship within the team.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and domain experience.

• Strong proficiency in C/C++, Python, and Bash.
• Solid background in image signal processing.
• Hands-on experience with GStreamer, OpenCV, PCL, and Linux kernel development.
• Experience with deep learning frameworks applied to vision problems.
• Strong understanding of ARM and DSP ISAs.
• Experience with Yocto or Buildroot build systems.
• Excellent communication skills and fluency in English.

Nice-to-have:

• SystemC and Verilog experience.
• Sensor fusion and multi-sensor systems knowledge.
• Radar technologies and DSP programming/optimization.
• Experience mapping RTL IPs to FPGA for validation or prototyping; familiarity with FPGA-based SoCs (e.g., Zynq, Versal).

Education Requirements

Master's degree in Electronic Engineering or Computer Science.
