Senior Principal Systems Engineer - Radar
Role Summary
Senior Principal Systems Engineer in Precision Guidance and Sensing Solutions (PGSS). Serve as a technical contributor on integrated product teams developing RF seeker and radar capabilities across R&D, prototyping, production and sustainment.
Work spans radar analysis, design, prototyping, integration, test and verification, with contributions to hardware and firmware/software architectures and lab evaluation.
Experience Level
Senior β requires significant, demonstrated radar engineering experience. The posting specifies 5+ years of applicable experience in related roles.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Provide technical leadership and deep subject-matter expertise on integrated product teams for RF seeker and radar systems.
- Perform radar analysis, system and circuit-level design, prototyping, integration, test, and verification activities.
- Develop and review firmware and software components; work with CPU and FPGA codebases.
- Design, evaluate, and verify hardware and software sensor architectures and interfaces.
- Support lab-based prototyping, test plans, and evaluation of RF/radar systems and demonstration units.
- Participate across the technology lifecycle from IRAD/R&D prototypes through LRIP and full-rate production.
- Capture lessons learned, propose engineering/process improvements, and contribute to Agile retrospectives and documentation.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and mentor less-experienced engineers.
Requirements
Must-have qualifications and skills:
- Active Secret clearance and ability to obtain Top Secret.
- Experience in two or more radar engineering activities (analysis, design, prototyping, integration, test, verification).
- Familiarity with weapons systems or missile systems design and performance analysis.
- Practical skills in CPU and FPGA programming, including C, C++, and VHDL.
- Working knowledge of radar hardware and software architectures and lab prototyping/evaluation methods.
Nice-to-have:
- Understanding of radar modalities such as pulsed-Doppler, SAR, and HRR.
- Experience reviewing, characterizing, and verifying both hardware and software sensor architectures.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field with 5+ years of applicable experience. Preferred: advanced degree (MS or higher) in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or equivalent advanced technical education or experience.
