Senior Principal System Engineer

Role Summary

Lead the technical definition and system architecture of next-generation signal-chain and voltage-translator products within BG IC Solutions. Act as the global technical authority, translating customer and market requirements into scalable, manufacturable silicon solutions.

Work across R&D, marketing, NPI, foundries and key Tier‑1 customers to optimize performance, cost and manufacturability for Automotive, Industrial and high-volume Consumer/Enterprise markets.

Experience Level

Senior — typically 10–15 years of system-level semiconductor design experience, with significant technical leadership responsibilities.

Responsibilities

Responsible for system architecture, product definition, and driving technical decisions from specification through silicon validation and customer support.

• Define system architecture for voltage translators and signal-chain interface products to meet diverse use cases and environments.
• Identify market trends and convert them into product opportunities and roadmap directions.
• Translate customer requirements into technical specifications and product features.
• Collaborate with design, verification, test and NPI teams on performance, power, area and cost trade-offs.
• Drive system-level optimization, risk management and technical decision-making.
• Evaluate prototype silicon for compliance with system requirements; lead bring-up and validation efforts.
• Produce technical documentation: datasheets, application notes and user guides.
• Provide system-level customer support including schematic review, layout guidance and debugging assistance.
• Act as primary technical interface for key customers and lead technical reviews.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills, experience and behaviors required to perform the role.

• 10–15 years experience in system-level semiconductor design, ideally with analog/mixed-signal or interface products.
• Proven ability to translate customer and market needs into robust, manufacturable solutions.
• Deep understanding of system-level trade-offs: performance, cost, power and implementation constraints.
• Hands-on experience with silicon bring-up, validation, characterization and lab-based system debugging.
• Experience working in global, cross-functional environments as a technical interface between engineering, marketing and customers.
• Strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills; ability to drive technical decisions in complex environments.
• Experience providing technical leadership, mentoring engineers or guiding technical direction on projects.

Preferred:

• Experience in Automotive, Industrial or high-volume Consumer Electronics applications.
• Knowledge of high-speed board design, signal integrity and transmission-line behavior.
• Familiarity with simulation/analysis tools such as ADS, SPICE or equivalents.
• Understanding of communication interfaces such as I2C, I3C, SPI.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
