Senior Principal Software Safety Expert / Assessor
Role Summary
Technical expert within the CTO Functional Safety team responsible for performing functional safety assessments and peer reviews for safety-related semiconductor software (SoC). Works on system safety solution development and drives innovation in safety software methods and practices.
Experience Level
Senior β requires 12+ years of experience in embedded systems and software development as specified in the posting.
Responsibilities
Accountable for assessing and improving software functional safety for automotive semiconductor products and for influencing safety practices across teams:
- Perform ISO 26262 functional safety assessments for software products.
- Manage technical peer reviews, safety concepts and safety analyses such as FTA, software FMEA, and DFA on request from business or project leaders.
- Drive innovation topics related to safety software and contribute to system safety solution development.
- Evangelize and maintain a strong safety culture across organizational boundaries and with management.
- Engage and align diverse stakeholders including engineering teams, business leaders, and customers.
- Travel domestically and internationally as required.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience, plus a few desirable items:
- Deep knowledge of ISO 26262 or an equivalent functional safety standard.
- Extensive experience in embedded systems and software development for safety-related products.
- Experience in software requirements, architecture, and design for safety products.
- Good understanding of supplier versus OEM responsibilities for product safety.
- Proven technical leadership with ability to influence and drive alignment across stakeholders.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for interactions up to executive level.
- Comfortable working with ambiguity when implementing new technologies and complex safety solutions.
- Desirable: involvement in safety assessments, confirmation reviews, or verification reviews.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master of Science in Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science. The posting specifies 12+ years of industry experience in addition to the degree requirement.
