Senior Principal Software Architect – AI

Role Summary

Lead the technical architecture for Arm's AI software portfolio, defining how applications and developer frameworks connect to Arm AI acceleration hardware. Work across software, compilers, runtimes and hardware teams to translate emerging AI models and use cases into product requirements.

This role will provide technical leadership across teams, engage with customers and ecosystem partners, and influence the direction of AI software and platform design.

Responsibilities

Provide technical leadership and drive cross-team alignment on AI software architecture and hardware/software co-design.

• Define and review architecture and design for AI software that targets Arm accelerators.
• Translate emerging AI models, workloads and application use cases into software and hardware requirements.
• Collaborate with hardware, compiler, runtime and kernel teams to enable efficient deployment of AI workloads.
• Engage with customers and ecosystem partners to gather requirements, share technical direction, and build alignment.
• Evaluate new technologies and industry trends to inform strategic technical decisions.

Requirements

• Must-have: Extensive experience in software architecture, systems software, or hardware/software co-design.
• Must-have: Deep knowledge of computer and system architecture (processors, memory systems, heterogeneous computing, hardware acceleration).
• Must-have: Strong understanding of modern AI models and workloads and their computational characteristics.
• Must-have: Familiarity with AI frameworks and runtimes such as PyTorch, ExecuTorch, LiteRT, ONNX or ONNX Runtime.
• Must-have: Strong C/C++ skills and the ability to engage with software implementations.
• Must-have: Excellent technical judgment, communication, and stakeholder-influencing skills.
• Nice-to-have: Experience with NPUs, GPUs, DSPs or other hardware accelerators.
• Nice-to-have: Knowledge of ML compiler technologies (MLIR, LLVM), low-precision inference, LLMs, Android/Linux AI ecosystems, embedded/edge computing, or open-source community engagement.
