Senior Principal SOC Power Lead
ArmJob Title
Senior Principal SOC Power Lead
Role Summary
Lead a small team of power engineers to drive power analysis, modeling, and optimization across SoC development from architecture through productization. The role focuses on pre- and post-silicon power convergence, cross-functional coordination, and delivering power-efficient solutions for products.
Experience Level
Senior-level (principal). Senior technical leadership and multi-project delivery experience expected.
Responsibilities
Accountabilities for the role include technical leadership, team delivery, and improving power workflows and correlation to silicon.
- Lead and mentor a team of power engineers across multiple SoC projects.
- Drive RTL and netlist-based power analysis, modeling, and sign-off flows for SoCs.
- Own pre-silicon and post-silicon power convergence and correlation to silicon measurements.
- Collaborate with architecture, design, verification, physical design, and product teams to meet power targets.
- Define and improve workflows, tools, and processes to increase accuracy and reduce turnaround time.
- Create and validate workload scenarios for simulation and emulation to support power verification.
- Present technical findings and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and demonstrated experience to perform the role.
Must-have
- Proven technical leadership and experience delivering multi-team project plans and mentoring engineers.
- Expertise in RTL and netlist-based power analysis, sign-off flows, and EDA tools.
- Deep understanding of ASIC design factors affecting power: technology node, mixed-Vt, standard cell and memory libraries, voltage and power-domain partitioning.
- Experience with verification using simulation and emulation environments (examples: VCS, QuestaSim, Incisive, Veloce Strato, Palladium, Zebu).
- Strong presentation, interpersonal, and written communication skills for technical audiences.
Nice-to-have
- Appreciation of software use-cases, benchmarks, and workloads and their interaction with hardware low-power features (clock/power gating, DVFS, retention).
- Python for automation and modeling.
- Experience decomposing SoC use-case power budgets to IP-level budgets.
Education Requirements
Not specified.
