Job Title

Senior Principal Product Engineer, Manufacturing Physics Simulation

Role Summary

Lead development of Siemens EDA's semiconductor manufacturing physics simulation (MPS) platform within the Calibre R&D team. The role bridges semiconductor manufacturing processes, device physics, and high-fidelity simulation methodologies to deliver scalable simulation solutions for advanced technology nodes and specialty technologies.

Experience Level

Senior level—senior/principal engineering role. The hiring profile expects extensive industry or research experience in advanced semiconductor manufacturing and simulation technologies.

Responsibilities

The role focuses on technical leadership, product development, and collaboration with internal and external experts.

  • Drive design and implementation of high-fidelity, high-throughput semiconductor manufacturing simulations for advanced nodes and specialty technologies.
  • Translate manufacturing and device physics requirements into robust simulation algorithms and software designs.
  • Lead technical pathfinding and feasibility studies for emerging process/device technologies (logic nodes, 3D NAND/DRAM, 3DIC, Si photonics, etc.).
  • Collaborate with foundries, memory manufacturers, and internal teams to define requirements and validate models against real-world data.
  • Estimate development tasks, set schedules, and deliver high-quality software on time.
  • Mentor engineers and promote knowledge sharing across the team.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders, including customers and cross-functional teams.

Requirements

Essential technical skills and experience expected for successful performance in this role.

  • Deep experience with advanced semiconductor process modules (e.g., selective epitaxial growth, atomic layer etch/deposition, plasma processes).
  • Proven expertise in advanced logic and memory technologies (FinFET, Nanosheet, 3D NAND, DRAM, 3D stacked FETs, IGZO, Si photonics).
  • Strong practical experience applying simulation methodologies such as TCAD and DTCO to solve complex manufacturing and device problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to design numerical algorithms and scale simulations for high-throughput production use.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills for computational and physics-based challenges.
  • Track record of reliable task estimation and delivering software to schedule and quality standards.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and a collaborative team mindset.

Education Requirements

PhD with 10+ years of research or industry experience, or MS with 15+ years of research or industry experience in semiconductor-related fields (device physics, semiconductor process engineering, electrical engineering, applied physics) and practical experience with simulation methodologies (e.g., TCAD, DTCO).
