Job Title
Senior Principal Product Engineer for Manufacturing Physics Simulation
Role Summary
Lead development of Siemens EDA's Manufacturing Physics Simulation (MPS) capabilities within the Calibre R&D team. The role bridges advanced semiconductor manufacturing processes, device physics, and numerical simulation methods to deliver high-fidelity, high-throughput simulation tools for advanced logic, memory, and specialty technologies.
Experience Level
Senior-level. See Education Requirements for specific degree and years-of-experience guidance.
Responsibilities
Deliver technical leadership and hands-on direction for semiconductor manufacturing physics simulation features and products.
- Define and drive development of simulation models and numerical methods (e.g., TCAD, DTCO) for manufacturing and device physics problems.
- Collaborate with foundries, memory manufacturers, and internal product teams to translate process/device requirements into simulation solutions.
- Architect scalable, high-throughput simulation workflows to meet production and pathfinding needs at advanced nodes.
- Validate models against process and device data and iterate to meet customer requirements.
- Estimate development effort, plan deliverables, and ensure on-schedule, high-quality software releases.
- Mentor engineers, lead technical reviews, and contribute to product roadmap and technology direction.
Requirements
Technical skills and domain expertise required for the role. Degree and years-of-experience are listed under Education Requirements.
- Deep expertise in semiconductor manufacturing and device physics, including advanced process modules (e.g., selective epitaxy, ALD/ ALE, plasma processes).
- Proven application of simulation methodologies (TCAD, DTCO) to solve complex, real-world manufacturing and device problems.
- Experience with advanced technology areas such as advanced logic nodes, DRAM/3D NAND, 3DIC, or specialty technologies.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to translate physics problems into robust simulation implementations.
- Demonstrated ability to estimate software development tasks and deliver reliable results on schedule; effective communicator and collaborator.
- Nice-to-have: experience with CFETs, IGZO memory approaches, Si photonics, high-volume manufacturing constraints, and device/process pathfinding.
Education Requirements
PhD with 10+ years of research or industry experience, or MS with 15+ years of research or industry experience in semiconductor-related work (semiconductor manufacturing, device physics, or closely related technical areas).
