Job Title

Senior Principal Product Engineer for Manufacturing Physics Simulation

Role Summary

Lead product engineering for the Calibre™ manufacturing physics simulation (MPS) platform within Siemens EDA's R&D organization. The role bridges semiconductor manufacturing processes, device physics, and numerical simulation methods to develop high-fidelity, high-throughput simulation tools for advanced technology nodes.

The position is a hybrid, senior technical leadership role focused on driving simulation feature development, collaborating with customers and internal experts, and enabling pathfinding for future process and device technologies.

Experience Level

Senior-level. Typical candidate profile: PhD with 10+ years or MS with 15+ years of research and/or industry experience in leading-edge semiconductor companies.

Responsibilities

The role is responsible for technical leadership, product direction, customer engagement, and delivery of simulation solutions that support advanced semiconductor manufacturing.

  • Define technical direction and product requirements for manufacturing physics simulation features.
  • Lead cross-functional engineering efforts to implement high-fidelity and high-throughput simulation algorithms and workflows.
  • Collaborate with foundries, memory manufacturers, and internal experts to validate models and ensure alignment with manufacturing needs.
  • Guide pathfinding and research activities for future nodes and emerging technologies (logic nodes, 3D NAND/DRAM, 3DIC, specialty technologies).
  • Provide subject-matter expertise in device/process physics to support customer engagements, debugging, and performance optimization.
  • Estimate software development tasks, prioritize work, and ensure timely delivery of high-quality results.
  • Mentor engineers and promote knowledge sharing across product and research teams.

Requirements

Core technical skills and professional attributes required for success in this role.

  • Must-have: Deep practical experience with semiconductor manufacturing processes and device physics applied to simulation (e.g., TCAD, DTCO).
  • Must-have: Proven track record working with advanced logic nodes, advanced DRAM or 3D NAND, or other specialty technology manufacturers.
  • Must-have: Strong problem-solving skills and experience solving complex computational and physics-based challenges.
  • Must-have: Ability to estimate software tasks accurately and deliver on schedule with high quality.
  • Must-have: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for technical audiences and customers.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with specific process modules (selective epitaxy, ALD/etch, plasma processes) and emerging architectures (CFETs, Si photonics, IGZO DRAM).
  • Nice-to-have: Prior collaboration experience with foundries and high-volume manufacturing customers.

Education Requirements

PhD with 10+ years of relevant research or industry experience, or MS with 15+ years of relevant research or industry experience. The posting does not specify exact fields of study; candidates are expected to have advanced technical training and substantial experience in semiconductor process/device physics and simulation methodologies.
