Job Title

Senior Principal Engineer, Systems Design/Architecture Engineering

Role Summary

Lead system architecture and product definition for high-performance industrial mixed-signal and RF CMOS ICs, driving multi-GHz communications and instrumentation solutions. Work cross-functionally with engineering, marketing, customers, and partners to define requirements, architectures, and roadmaps for differentiated products.

Experience Level

Senior β€” requires substantial prior experience (senior/lead role). Typical expectation: 20+ years of relevant experience as stated in the posting.

Responsibilities

Accountable for system-level architecture, modeling, customer engagement, and mentoring within the Industrial Architecture team.

  • Define architecture and signal chains for multi-GHz digital communication products and instrumentation systems.
  • Set subsystem partitioning, interfaces, performance/power targets, and process node recommendations.
  • Perform detailed analysis of RF, data converter, PLL, clocking/synchronization, digital features, and calibration/algorithm requirements.
  • Develop behavioral system modeling infrastructure for mixed-mode simulation and quantitative architecture trade studies.
  • Lead architecture reviews and present alternatives, trade-offs, recommendations, and risks to engineering teams and senior leadership.
  • Engage customers, partners, and standards groups to gather market and system requirements and translate them into product requirements and roadmap inputs.
  • Identify greenfield and cross-business-unit opportunities that leverage heterogeneous integration and advanced packaging.
  • Coach and manage system architects to grow system engineering capabilities across geographies.
  • Travel as required (~10%).

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items noted separately.

  • 20+ years of experience in system applications, architecture, and design engineering for high-performance RF and mixed-signal ICs and systems.
  • Proven expertise in SERDES, RF CMOS, PLLs, or data converter design.
  • Experience with FinFET or fine-line planar analog CMOS process technologies and associated trade-offs.
  • Proficiency in software-defined CMOS communications or radar system design.
  • Knowledge of digitally-assisted high-speed analog design and multi-channel synchronization.
  • Strong analytical, presentation, and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated track record of technical leadership (patents, publications, or product leadership).

Education Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) required; Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) preferred.
