Job Title

Senior Principal Engineer, System Architect - Radar Sensing

Role Summary

Lead system architect for mm-wave radar sensing platform development within MIPS (a GlobalFoundries company). The role partners with cross-functional teams (systems, software, digital, analog, RFIC) to define and validate end-to-end sensing solutions and drive system-level design decisions.

Experience Level

Senior. Expected experience: typically Ph.D. with 10+ years or Master’s with 15+ years of relevant industry experience in related fields.

Responsibilities

Accountable for system-level design, simulation, and validation of mm-wave radar sensing platforms; collaborate across hardware and software teams to produce implementable specifications and validate field performance.

  • Lead requirement analysis and end-to-end system-level simulation and modeling.
  • Develop and refine radar and communication signal-processing algorithms and concepts.
  • Work with analog, digital, and software engineers to define and validate system architecture.
  • Simulate effects of analog impairments on system performance and produce design specifications.
  • Simulate bit-accurate digital datapaths and provide specifications for hardware accelerators and/or software implementations.
  • Plan and perform experimentation and field testing; analyze results and reconcile with simulations.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and domain experience for successful performance in this role.

  • Deep expertise in MATLAB-based system-level simulation.
  • Proven experience in radar and/or communications systems and signal processing.
  • Experience with silicon-based transceivers and signal-processing accelerators in embedded systems.
  • Working knowledge of C/C++ and Python for system validation and prototyping.

Education Requirements

Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field with 15+ years of relevant experience, or Ph.D. in those fields with 10+ years of relevant experience. (Degree and field are listed as the primary educational expectations.)
