Job Title

Senior Principal Design Engineer

Role Summary

Experienced RFIC design engineer responsible for architecture, design, simulation, layout and characterization of RFIC circuit blocks for cellular and Wi‑Fi front-end modules (700 MHz–7 GHz). The role is in an advanced development team within Qorvo’s Advanced Cellular Group and interfaces with product organizations and cross-functional teams.

Experience Level

Senior level. Minimum ~8+ years of relevant industry experience; 15+ years preferred for candidates with M.S. or Ph.D.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include end-to-end RFIC block development, feasibility studies and collaboration with cross-functional teams.

  • Perform architectural and feasibility studies for RFIC front-end solutions.
  • Design, simulate, lay out and characterize RFIC blocks such as power amplifiers, LNAs, RF switches, attenuators, couplers and filters.
  • Develop designs across technologies (GaAs, SOI, SiGe, CMOS) and create laminate/IPD package and matching networks.
  • Use circuit and EM simulation tools to meet requirements for power, bandwidth, efficiency, linearity, noise and return loss.
  • Mentor junior engineers and document design decisions, internal/external reports and invention disclosures.
  • Collaborate with product teams and cross-functional groups to meet customer schedules and product goals.

Requirements

Key technical skills and experience required and preferred.

  • Must-have: Practical RFIC design experience (PA, LNA, switches, filters, etc.) and familiarity with GaAs, SOI, SiGe and/or CMOS technologies.
  • Proficiency with Cadence Virtuoso and SpectreRF; experience with Keysight ADS and EM simulation tools (EMX, Momentum, FEM, HFSS).
  • Hands-on experience with RF/microwave test equipment: network analyzers, probe stations, source/load-pull systems, noise figure and signal/source analyzers.
  • Strong teamwork, communication, organization and documentation skills; attention to detail to deliver high-yielding designs.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet customer-driven schedules.
  • Nice-to-have: Familiarity with RF transceiver and front-end architectures, end-to-end analog/RFIC productization experience, device physics knowledge across PVT and frequency, and experience with data analysis/programming tools (MATLAB, JMP, Spotfire, ADS AEL).

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree required (with ~8+ years of related experience) or a post-graduate degree; M.S. or Ph.D. preferred, especially with 15+ years of experience. Degrees in engineering, physics or other related technical fields are typical for this role.
