Job Title
Senior Principal Analog / Mixed-Signal Design Engineer
Role Summary
Serve as a technical authority for mixed-signal integrated circuit design within ADI's Cork team, leading architecture and circuit-level development for high-performance analog and mixed-signal products.
Main responsibilities include driving advanced circuit design and simulation, mentoring engineers, coordinating cross-functional delivery, and representing ADI in external technical forums.
Experience Level
Senior-level; the posting requests an experienced principal engineer (typically 15+ years of relevant industry experience).
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include design leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and technical innovation.
- Perform advanced block- and transistor-level analog and mixed-signal design, simulation, evaluation, and debugging across process, voltage, and temperature variations.
- Collaborate with product definition, verification, process, test, and application teams to define specifications and features.
- Drive architecture development, IP creation, and novel circuit methodologies; contribute to patent generation.
- Lead complex mixed-signal projects and influence product roadmaps without formal management responsibility.
- Provide technical leadership and mentor junior engineers to establish robust design practices.
- Manage external technical engagement including publications, conference presentations, and university relationships to build talent pipelines.
- Partner with business leaders to align technology direction with market needs.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and professional attributes.
- Advanced analog circuit design expertise (amplifiers, filters, data converters) with proven ability to solve complex design challenges independently.
- Advanced mixed-signal IC design knowledge, including ADC/DAC techniques and system-level integration.
- Proficiency with simulation and modeling tools such as SPICE, Cadence Virtuoso, and Calibre; ability to develop custom simulation methodologies.
- Strong understanding of IC layout considerations and experience guiding layout optimization for performance.
- Excellent technical communication and persuasive presentation skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrated technical leadership: running design reviews, driving initiatives, and mentoring across multiple projects.
- Willingness to travel approximately 10%.
Education Requirements
Preferred: Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field and at least 15 years of relevant industry experience. Strong record of innovation (patents, conference presentations, publications) is preferred.
