Senior Principal Analog IC Design Engineer
QorvoJob Title
Senior Principal Analog IC Design Engineer
Role Summary
Design and validate high-performance analog power management ICs (PMICs, power loss protection, motor control, battery management) for mobile, consumer, IoT, and industrial applications. The role drives architecture, transistor-level design, simulation, and release activities while collaborating with global teams, layout, test, and product engineering.
Experience Level
Senior - typically 15+ years of engineering experience, including at least 8+ years in analog and mixed-signal IC design with DC-DC power converter architectures and control methodologies.
Responsibilities
Accountable for end-to-end analog power IC design from architecture through production release.
- Lead architecture and circuit design for high-efficiency power management ICs.
- Perform transistor-level design, simulation, and verification to meet specs.
- Select and implement circuit topologies with emphasis on robustness, yield, and manufacturability.
- Work with layout engineers to optimize floorplanning and parasitic effects.
- Define validation and production test strategies with test and characterization teams.
- Collaborate across global teams to align development plans and drive execution.
- Prepare technical documentation and present design decisions and trade-offs to stakeholders.
Requirements
Must-have technical experience and skills for immediate contribution.
- 15+ years of engineering experience in the semiconductor industry, or equivalent experience.
- 8+ years in analog and mixed-signal IC design, specifically DC-DC converter architectures and control (voltage-mode, current-mode).
- Proven experience with transistor-level simulation and validation to meet functional and performance specifications.
- Experience with EDA/verification flows including EMIR/capacitive-coupling analysis, parasitic extraction, and handling floating nodes.
- Track record of shipping production power management ICs.
- Effective oral and written communication of technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Nice-to-have:
- Familiarity with Cadence Virtuoso, Simplis, ADS.
- Hands-on lab experience supporting high-frequency switching power supplies.
Education Requirements
Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent practical experience). Preferred: Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering. Fields: electrical engineering or closely related technical disciplines; equivalent industry experience accepted.
