Job Title
Senior Principal Analog Design Engineer — DCDC Converter
Role Summary
Join the Analog Power Management team to define, design and deliver DC/DC buck/boost converter IP for mobile and secure-transaction products. The role owns the DCDC converter macro from specification through silicon release and production support.
Work cross-functionally with digital, firmware, layout, test and validation teams and interact with customers for design reviews and issue resolution.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Requires substantial experience (minimum 12 years) in analog and power-management IC design with responsibility for technical leadership and delivering production silicon.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include specification, design, validation and cross-team coordination for DC/DC converter IP.
- Define specifications and drive feasibility, transistor-level design and circuit simulations for DC/DC buck/boost converters.
- Provide silicon area and performance estimates and own implementation trade-offs.
- Deliver to schedule while maintaining design quality; own the macro from spec to production.
- Support validation and ATE teams to verify that performance and parameters meet targets.
- Interface with physical design, digital and firmware teams to guide analog block integration and usage.
- Participate in peer reviews at IC and system level and interact with customers during design reviews.
- Drive root-cause analysis and bug fixes on silicon; coordinate cross-team issue resolution.
- Mentor and develop junior and senior engineers on the team.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; followed by desirable skills.
- Minimum of 12 years experience in analog block and power-management system design; proven track record of delivering working silicon for high-volume products.
- Strong transistor-level IC design fundamentals and device physics.
- Experience leading technical design efforts and coordinating cross-functional teams.
- Knowledge of layout matching, parasitics, latch-up and ESD considerations for analog IP.
- Strong analytical and debugging skills for design and silicon bring-up.
- Familiarity with EDA design tools and Cadence design environment.
-
Nice-to-have: Experience with different power-management application types; specific experience with DC/DC topologies (buck, boost, buck-boost).
Education Requirements
Master's degree in Electronic or Electrical Engineering.
