Job Title

Senior Power Module Design Engineer

Role Summary

Responsible for end-to-end electrical design of high-density power modules for GPU and AI accelerator core power delivery. This hands-on role owns architecture definition, electrical design, thermal analysis, and validation of modules while collaborating with IC design, packaging, reliability, and manufacturing teams.

Focus areas include achieving extremely high current density, fast transient response, and meeting tight thermal and reliability margins.

Experience Level

Senior β€” typically requires 5+ years of hands-on power electronics design experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include design, simulation, validation, and collaboration across disciplines:

  • Design high-current, high-density power modules for CPU/GPU/xPU core and AI server power delivery.
  • Collaborate with package engineers and IC designers to integrate ICs, inductors, and capacitors into compact modules.
  • Perform PDN extraction to assess power path losses and switch-node ringing.
  • Specify and design inductors to match module and silicon pinmap; work with vendors to commercialize designs.
  • Build and run thermal models to ensure components stay within operating temperatures.
  • Support validation and bench characterization: efficiency, thermal, and transient testing; debug power modules.
  • Support design-for-manufacturing (DFM) and design-for-test (DFT) activities.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and tools; items marked as preferred are beneficial but not strictly required.

  • Must-have: Strong experience designing high-current, high-frequency DC-DC converters, especially multiphase buck architectures.
  • Must-have: Deep understanding of power stage design and magnetics for high-current applications.
  • Must-have: Hands-on PCB layout experience for high-current-density and high-frequency designs.
  • Must-have: Proven ability to debug complex power circuits with lab measurements and root-cause analysis.
  • Must-have: Proficiency with circuit and PCB simulation/layout tools: Cadence or Altium; SIMPLIS or SIMetrix.
  • Must-have: Experience with PDN extraction and magnetic design tools such as Q3D, PowerSI, or Maxwell.
  • Preferred: Direct experience designing power modules, VRMs, or highly integrated power solutions.
  • Preferred: Experience with thermal simulation tools such as Flotherm or Icepak.
  • Preferred: Experience working with inductor vendors and cross-functional teams (IC, packaging, reliability, manufacturing).

Education Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) is specified; the posting expects 5+ years of hands-on power electronics design experience. No alternative degree fields or explicit "equivalent experience" language was provided.
