Senior Power Intent / UPF Engineer
ArmJob Title
Senior Power Intent / UPF Engineer
Role Summary
As a Senior Power Intent / UPF Engineer on the Solutions Engineering team, you will define and validate power intent for Arm compute SoC designs and support internal and external partners to optimise power, performance, and implementation flows.
Work includes authoring and maintaining UPF, investigating power-distribution trade-offs, and improving verification and automation flows for power intent.
Experience Level
Senior - typically 7+ years of relevant industry experience or equivalent.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include defining power intent, producing validated UPF, and enabling partners to achieve quality results.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and implement power intent for SoC designs.
- Author, maintain, merge and validate UPF files across hierarchical domains describing power domains, states, retention, isolation, and level shifters.
- Perform low-power formal verification and validation of UPF semantics and implementation.
- Analyse power domain network (PDN) and power distribution trade-offs related to power intent.
- Develop automation and scripting to render and manage power intent files and flows.
- Support partners and internal teams to improve power implementation and quality-of-results.
Requirements
Required technical skills and experience. "Must-have" items are mandatory; "Nice-to-have" are advantageous.
- Must-have: Solid understanding of power intent concepts (voltage islands, power domains, power states, control architectures).
- Must-have: Proficiency with UPF (2.0/2.1/3.0/3.1) and experience in low-power formal verification.
- Must-have: Proven track record of defining and verifying power intent in SoC projects.
- Must-have: Strong communication and collaboration skills and ability to present technical insights.
- Nice-to-have: Scripting experience (Tcl, Perl, Python, YAML) for automation.
- Nice-to-have: Familiarity with formal verification tools (e.g. Conformal LP) and Arm-based SoC architectures.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
