Senior Power Architect - SoC Power and Thermal Management Software
NVIDIAJob Title
Senior Power Architect - SoC Power and Thermal Management Software
Role Summary
Lead the architecture and delivery of SoC power and thermal control software for client platforms, from architecture through productization. Work across SoC partners, firmware, kernel/driver teams, OEMs, and internal leadership to define, implement, and optimize power and thermal management solutions.
Experience Level
Senior - typically 12+ years industry experience, with at least 5+ years focused on SoC or platform power management software.
Responsibilities
Own technical direction, execution, and cross-functional coordination for software that controls power and thermal behavior on client SoC products.
- Architect and implement SoC power and thermal control software modules and system-level policies.
- Define software architecture for power and thermal management on next-generation platforms based on productization lessons.
- Lead root-cause analysis and resolution of complex multi-team power/thermal issues.
- Own end-to-end software work for power usage and thermal control across a product line.
- Drive platform power and thermal goals across firmware, kernel/driver, and OEM-facing software stacks.
- Maintain program-level tracking of status, risks, and mitigations and communicate to engineering leadership.
- Serve as primary software technical interface to SoC and ecosystem partners; align joint architecture and interfaces.
- Represent the Power/Thermal software team in leadership reviews and program syncs.
Requirements
Must-haves for the role; candidates should demonstrate these capabilities and experience.
- 12+ years industry experience in system software, with substantial work on SoC or platform power management (at least 5 years preferred).
- Deep expertise in SoC/GPU/CPU power management concepts: C-states, SoC low-power states, DVFS, power gating, clock gating, and platform power limits.
- Proven track record of delivering power/thermal software on real products from pre-silicon architecture through post-launch optimization.
- Strong multi-functional leadership: ability to align engineering teams, silicon partners, OS/platform vendors, and OEM partners.
- Proficiency in C and solid background in operating system internals, device drivers, real-time embedded OS, and low-level HW/SW interfaces.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to explain complex technical tradeoffs to engineering leadership and partners.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with Linux and Windows platform power management.
- Experience defining firmware/software power interfaces across companies and partners.
- Familiarity with platform telemetry pipelines for power/thermal monitoring and battery-life analysis.
- Experience with rest-of-platform (ROP) power optimization techniques.
Education Requirements
B.S. or higher in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field - or equivalent practical experience.
