Job Title
Senior Power and Performance Engineer
Role Summary
The Senior Power and Performance Engineer will define and integrate system-level power and performance features, controllers, and policies across silicon and system platforms. The role sits on an architecture and silicon co-design team and partners with architecture, ASIC, board/platform, firmware/software, and product teams to optimize performance-per-watt from design through silicon bring-up and validation.
Experience Level
Senior β typically 8+ years of relevant experience in silicon power architecture, system-level design, validation, and power/performance optimization.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities focus on architecture, cross-functional integration, and operational support across the product lifecycle.
- Architect and integrate system-level power/performance features, controllers, and policies to optimize product efficiency.
- Create feature roadmaps addressing low-power, low-noise, and performance-per-watt requirements via prototyping and trade-off analysis.
- Collaborate with architecture, ASIC, board/platform, firmware, software, and marketing teams to drive design decisions and resolve complex issues.
- Lead debug and root-cause analysis; develop workarounds and support silicon bring-up, validation, manufacturing, and customer escalations.
- Monitor industry trends and translate market needs into forward-looking technical roadmaps.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and practical experience; nice-to-have items follow.
-
Must-have: Deep expertise in silicon power architecture, system-level design, validation, and power/performance optimization.
-
Must-have: Strong electrical engineering fundamentals: digital design, low-power design techniques, DVFS, control systems, power management, timing, and microarchitecture.
-
Must-have: Solid understanding of firmware/driver structure and hardware/software interaction.
-
Must-have: Programming proficiency in C/C++ and scripting (Python or Perl) in Windows/Linux environments.
-
Nice-to-have: Hands-on lab experience with oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers and prior silicon bring-up exposure.
-
Nice-to-have: Familiarity with clocking, boot/reset flows, and system architecture.
-
Nice-to-have: Demonstrated cross-functional leadership and system-level intuition for power/performance trade-offs.
-
Nice-to-have: Experience using AI-assisted engineering tools (e.g., code-generation or analysis assistants) as a productivity multiplier.
- Strong problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills.
Education Requirements
BS or MS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering (EE/CE) is stated; the posting also accepts equivalent practical experience.
