Senior PMIC Systems and Validation Engineer
QualcommJob Title
Senior PMIC Systems and Validation Engineer
Role Summary
Work on architecture, system-level definition, and post-silicon validation of Power Management IC (PMIC) solutions used in mobile and consumer SoCs. The role partners with analog/digital design, firmware/software, characterization, and customer engineering teams to define top-level PMIC system behavior, validate hardware/firmware/software interactions, and resolve field issues.
Experience Level
Senior - typically 3–5 years of relevant experience in analog/power electronics, hardware systems, or post-silicon validation.
Responsibilities
Owner or contributor for system definition, validation planning, and debugging of PMIC-based solutions:
- Define PMIC-system top-level specifications (HW/FW/SW partitioning, register interfaces, memory sizing, connectivity, sequencing requirements).
- Create and execute comprehensive functional validation plans (manual and automated test cases).
- Perform bench measurements and signal analysis for HW-level validation and failure debug.
- Debug HW/SW integration issues, analyze logs, and drive root-cause to closure with cross-functional teams.
- Design and implement test automation for HW systems and validation flows.
- Assess validation and development risks; prepare reports and communicate results to product, design, and customer teams.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; nice-to-have items listed separately.
- Must-have: 3–5 years of experience in hardware systems, analog/power electronics, or post-silicon validation.
- Practical post-silicon validation experience: bench measurements, signal probing, or logs-based verification.
- Familiarity with the ASIC product development flow from concept to product support.
- Hands-on with lab instruments (oscilloscopes, power supplies, JTAG debuggers) and ability to read HW schematics and trace PCB connections.
- Hardware debug skills related to DC-DC (SMPS), LDOs and power-management circuits.
- Programming/scripting ability in one or more: Python, Perl, LabVIEW, C#, F#, or similar for test automation; basic OOP understanding.
- Good analytical, written and verbal communication skills; ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
- Nice-to-have: experience leading white-box validation efforts, assembly-language exposure for microcontrollers, familiarity with JIRA/GIT, and prior PMIC-specific knowledge (battery chargers, fuel gauges, ADCs).
Education Requirements
Required: Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Electrical, Computer Science or related engineering field. Master's degree (preferred), especially in VLSI, Microelectronics or Power Management. PhD also listed as acceptable in company minimum qualifications. The posting includes degree-based experience pathways (Bachelor's + ~2 years, Master’s + ~1 year, or PhD). No specific certifications were listed.
