Senior Platform Development Engineer — Power MOSFET
Role Summary
Work in Nexperia's Manchester R&D organisation to design, prototype, validate and industrialise next-generation power MOSFET platforms. The role interfaces across R&D, manufacturing, supply chain and external partners to deliver performance, reliability and manufacturability improvements.
This is a hands-on engineering role within a collaborative team, with responsibility across the full product development lifecycle from concept and device architecture through to production readiness.
Experience Level
Senior. Requires several years of experience in power semiconductor technology development (Power MOSFETs preferred).
Responsibilities
Key duties include product and platform development, data analysis and technical communication across functions.
- Interpret customer requirement specifications for new products.
- Contribute to technology platform and device design using tools such as TCAD, Cadence and Klayout.
- Perform data analysis across wafer test, assembly and qualification stages.
- Prepare concise technical summaries and communicate complex information to team members and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, supply chain, assembly and test operations to align on specifications and industrialisation plans.
Requirements
Must-have technical experience and practical working requirements, plus desirable skills.
- Several years of hands-on experience in power semiconductor technology development, ideally with Power MOSFETs (silicon preferred); strong understanding of device physics, process interactions, manufacturability and failure mechanisms.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to translate technical information for stakeholders and senior management.
- Ability to work on site in Stockport on a hybrid basis (typically 3 days per week in office).
Nice-to-have:
- Project management experience and ability to manage multiple development streams.
- Experience using TCAD, Cadence or Klayout for device and platform design.
- Familiarity with statistical analysis tools (e.g. Minitab, Statistica, SPSS).
- Practical root cause analysis experience (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone) and containment strategies.
Education Requirements
Degree in Electronics Engineering, Semiconductor Physics, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
