Senior Physical Design Engineer
Role Summary
This role combines backend physical design expertise with customer-facing responsibilities. The engineer will support customers using the company's on-chip monitoring solutions, troubleshoot implementation issues, and provide feedback to R&D to improve product integration and reliability.
Position is hybrid, with in-office work expected approximately three days per week at the Santa Clara, CA office and the remainder remote.
Experience Level
Senior. The posting specifies 5+ years of relevant experience in backend implementation flows and tape-out experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include customer support, technical enablement, and cross-team feedback to drive product improvements.
- Provide close technical support to customers and resolve integration and implementation challenges.
- Deliver training and presentations on tools and methodologies to customer engineering teams.
- Debug customer issues, prioritize problems, and coordinate fixes with internal teams.
- Collect and communicate customer feedback to R&D to improve product usability and robustness.
- Collaborate with customers and internal teams during RTL-to-GDS and tape-out activities as needed.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- 5+ years of experience in RTL-to-GDSII / implementation flows with tape-out experience in advanced processes.
- Experience with Cadence and/or Synopsys toolflows.
- Strong scripting skills (TCL, Python, Perl).
- Excellent debugging skills and the ability to prioritize tasks and issues effectively.
- Proficiency in English for customer communication.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with signoff flows (STA, LVS, DRC) for advanced processes.
- Prior customer-facing/application engineering experience.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
