Job Title

Senior PCIe Design Engineer

Role Summary

Design and implement I/O subsystem micro‑architecture and RTL for PCIe, CXL and related IP within SoC projects. Work on architecture, specification, RTL development, bug fixes, and cross‑team integration to deliver production silicon.

Collaborate with verification, performance analysis, backend implementation and project management in a hybrid Toronto engineering team focused on complex compute subsystems.

Experience Level

Senior level. The role expects approximately 5+ years of relevant SoC or complex compute subsystem design experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include specification, RTL development, integration and support for I/O subsystems.

  • Write micro‑architecture and design specifications for PCIe/CXL and other I/O IP.
  • Develop, review and maintain RTL (Verilog) and fix design bugs.
  • Collaborate with verification to review test plans and debug build failures.
  • Work with performance analysis to evaluate and improve system performance.
  • Support backend implementation: floorplanning, constraints and timing closure.
  • Perform static design checks and ensure design quality throughout the flow.
  • Contribute to and improve team design methodologies and flows.
  • Provide technical guidance to other team members and coordinate with project management on schedules.

Requirements

Clear must‑have technical skills and relevant experience; additional desirable skills listed under "Nice to Have".

Must-have

  • 5+ years experience in design of complex compute subsystems or SoCs.
  • Strong digital hardware design skills and practical Verilog HDL experience.
  • Experience developing and integrating subsystems for PCIe, CXL, UCIe or Ethernet.
  • Experience creating design specifications and delivering RTL for SoC projects.
  • Experience with static design checks (CDC, RDC, X‑Propagation, linting).
  • Proficiency with scripting languages such as Perl or Python for design automation.

Nice-to-have

  • Experience with ARM‑based designs or ARM system architectures.
  • Experience leading small teams or technical projects.
  • Knowledge of synthesis and timing analysis, power management, DFT and physical implementation.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
