Senior Opto-Mechanical Engineer

Role Summary

Senior engineer in the CPO group responsible for designing, developing, and delivering opto-mechanical components and subsystems. Work closely with cross-functional teams and external vendors to take concepts through prototyping, testing, and production.

Experience Level

Senior - minimum 5 years of experience in development of opto-mechanical components or systems.

Responsibilities

Accountable for end-to-end opto-mechanical hardware delivery, from concept and CAD to assembly, test and vendor handoff.

  • Design and develop precision opto-mechanical components and subassemblies.
  • Create and maintain 3D CAD models and drawings (CREO or SolidWorks).
  • Plan, perform and document assembly and verification testing.
  • Fabricate and maintain jigs, fixtures and test tooling required for development and production.
  • Lead projects from concept through implementation, meeting schedule and quality targets.
  • Collaborate with electrical, firmware, test and program teams to integrate mechanical designs.
  • Manage and coordinate with global vendors to ensure on-time delivery and manufacturing readiness.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience for immediate contribution.

  • At least 5 years experience in opto-mechanical development.
  • Proven track record defining and executing tests, including designing necessary jigs and fixtures.
  • Hands-on experience with CREO or SolidWorks 3D CAD tools.
  • Strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and ability to work in a diverse global team.

Nice-to-have

  • Background with fiber optics and related components.
  • Familiarity with SiPH and CPO technologies.
  • Knowledge of electronic packaging and silicon processing industry standards.
  • Experience delivering hardware in a fast-paced high-tech environment.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
