Senior NPU Architect
EnCharge AIJob Title
Senior NPU Architect
Role Summary
The Senior NPU Architect will define and optimize architecture and micro‑architecture for EnCharge AI’s AI accelerator built on in‑memory compute technology. You will work with architects, hardware engineers, verification, and software teams to design a high‑performance, efficient HW/SW solution for modern AI/ML workloads (LLMs, diffusion models, CNNs, etc.).
Experience Level
Senior-level. Typical experience: approximately 5–8 years of relevant industry experience.
Responsibilities
Core responsibilities include specifying, modeling, validating, and optimizing key NPU modules and collaborating across hardware and software teams.
- Define architecture and micro‑architecture for modules such as in‑memory compute units, on‑chip networks, and memory orchestration.
- Implement and validate models of architecture modules in a C++ simulation framework to verify functionality and performance.
- Collaborate with design verification to develop testing strategies and infrastructure for architecture features.
- Work with software teams to analyze performance and efficiency on target workloads, identify bottlenecks, and guide architectural tradeoffs.
- Monitor AI/ML research and industry trends to inform future architecture directions.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience.
- Strong understanding of computer architecture, digital design, and micro‑architecture concepts.
- Familiarity with AI/ML algorithms, frameworks, and common workload characteristics.
- Proficient programming in C/C++ and Python.
- Experience with hardware description languages such as Verilog or SystemVerilog.
- Experience modeling architecture components in C++ simulation environments and validating feature implementations.
- Experience working with verification teams and developing test strategies for architecture features.
- Ability to analyze performance and guide architecture decisions based on benchmarking and profiling.
- Strong cross‑team communication and documentation skills.
Nice-to-have: prior experience with in‑memory compute accelerators or AI accelerator commercialization.
Education Requirements
BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field (posting specifies BS/MS with 5–8 years of relevant experience). Preferred: PhD in a related field (posting specifies PhD with 2–4 years of relevant experience).
