Senior NPI to Mass Production Engineer

Role Summary

The Senior NPI to Mass Production Engineer leads transitions of new products from New Product Introduction (NPI) into mass production (MP). The role sits in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary engineering group and focuses on manufacturability, yield improvement, process controls, and production readiness with contract electronics manufacturers (CEMs).

Works cross-functionally with NPI and engineering teams to qualify manufacturing solutions, ensure capacity and material readiness, and support global production capability and quality for assigned products.

Experience Level

Senior — typically requires 5+ years of practical experience on semiconductor production lines.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include managing the transition to mass production, ensuring production readiness, and driving process and yield improvements.

  • Lead product transitions from NPI to mass production, ensuring quality, capacity, and material availability at MP start.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase manufacturability and yield.
  • Collaborate with internal NPI and engineering teams on production processes and design-for-manufacturing.
  • Coordinate with worldwide CEMs to validate production capabilities and readiness based on forecasts.
  • Represent mass production requirements and CEM capabilities during new product design and ramp activities.
  • Support advanced process control and corrective actions to maintain production performance.
  • Meet delivery schedules through cross-functional coordination and escalation as needed.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and attributes for successful performance in this role.

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in semiconductor production-line environments.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of production processes, manufacturability assessment, and production readiness activities.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and in teams.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, including Excel.
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills and ability to provide responsive support.
  • Ability to work with and coordinate external contract manufacturers (CEMs) globally.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience leading or motivating team members during product ramps.
  • Analytical, results-oriented mindset and experience with creative problem solving.

Education Requirements

B.Sc. in Industrial and Management Engineering is listed; equivalent practical experience is acceptable.
