Job Title
Senior NPI Test Engineer
Role Summary
Lead technical contributor for new product introduction (NPI) test development across mixed-signal, high-speed digital, and RF product lines. The role owns test strategy from early silicon validation through transfer to high-volume manufacturing and drives reusable test IP and methodologies.
Experience Level
Senior-level — typically 8+ years of semiconductor test engineering experience, including 5+ years in mixed-signal/RF test development.
Responsibilities
Key duties include technical leadership, cross-functional NPI support, innovation, and production scaling.
- Develop and implement test strategies for complex mixed-signal SiGe products from concept through production, including devices operating above 200 Gbps.
- Lead development of test methodologies for high-speed SerDes, CDRs, signal conditioning, and high-speed I/O.
- Specify DFT/testability requirements and create reusable test IP, libraries, and frameworks.
- Represent test engineering in architecture reviews, NPI gate meetings, and test readiness reviews.
- Collaborate with IC design, product engineering, and customer quality teams on characterization, correlation, and manufacturability.
- Evaluate and adopt new ATE platforms and measurement techniques; apply AI/ML for yield and test optimization.
- Transfer test solutions to OSATs, monitor KPIs, and drive test cost and cycle-time reduction.
- Mentor junior engineers and maintain test methodology documentation and training materials.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; concise list of required capabilities.
- 8+ years progressive semiconductor test engineering experience; 5+ years in mixed-signal/RF test development.
- Proven track record leading NPI programs for high-speed communication ICs.
- Expert-level experience with Advantest V93000 (SmarTest 7/8).
- Advanced programming skills in C/C++, Python, and TCL.
- Deep understanding of high-speed signal integrity, jitter analysis, and BER testing.
- Experience with analog/mixed-signal DFT techniques (BIST, scan, boundary scan).
- RF/microwave test experience beyond 40 GHz and familiarity with PCB design tools (Cadence, Altium).
- Strong foundation in statistical process control, quality methodologies, and cross-functional communication.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with SiGe BiCMOS process testing, automotive qualification (AEC-Q100), 93000 PS modules and Wave Scale RF.
- Wafer-level testing, probe card design, and test data analytics / machine-learning applications.
Education Requirements
Required: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field. Preferred: Master’s degree or PhD in a relevant engineering discipline.
