Senior NPI Hardware Quality Engineer
Role Summary
Lead quality strategy and execution across the product development lifecycle for hardware NPI (new product introduction), from concept through production release. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to manage risks, drive verification/validation, and implement continuous quality improvements.
Experience Level
Senior level β requires extensive experience. The posting specifies 12+ years in hardware design, development, testing, or process engineering, with preferable 5+ years specifically in quality.
Responsibilities
Accountable for planning and executing quality activities across development phases and for driving cross-functional alignment.
- Lead multi-functional teams to complete development stages while meeting technical and quality criteria.
- Define and enforce engineering standards, quality control plans, and configuration control throughout development.
- Drive proactive quality practices: inquiries, root cause analysis (RCA), corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Identify, prioritize, track, and mitigate risks to schedule and product quality.
- Promote early-detection mechanisms, continuous monitoring, and rapid issue resolution.
- Support hardware qualification, verification, and reliability processes to maintain product quality over the lifecycle.
- Partner with Continuous Improvement to reduce customer complaints and internal scrap through process improvements and project coordination.
Requirements
Must-have technical background and hands-on experience in hardware development, manufacturing, test, and quality methods.
- 12+ years in hardware design development, test engineering, or process engineering.
- Experience with manufacturing process or test engineering, board design/assembly, or semiconductor development.
- Proven background in hardware qualification, reliability processes, quality procedures, and quality tools.
- Experience with risk assessment, failure analysis, and FMEA.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage product changes/configuration control.
- Preferred: 5+ years specifically in quality-focused roles and experience driving CI/quality improvement projects.
Education Requirements
B.Sc. in Electrical, Mechanical, Materials, Chemical Engineering, or similar field; or equivalent practical experience.
