Job Title

Senior Modem Design Verification Engineer

Role Summary

Work on the Wireless PHYMAC team to verify digital modem designs for low-power wireless products. The role develops verification strategies, builds and runs verification environments, and drives coverage and debug from early design through silicon bring-up.

Position is based in Austin, TX and involves cross-functional collaboration with design, architecture, firmware, validation, and system teams.

Experience Level

Senior-level β€” posting indicates 5–8 years of experience in digital design verification, with modem or wireless PHY experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include planning and executing verification for digital modem logic, building reusable test environments, and resolving complex functional issues.

  • Define and execute verification strategies for digital modem designs across primary wireless use cases.
  • Develop and maintain scalable verification environments using SystemVerilog/UVM or similar methodologies.
  • Create test plans, test benches, and stimuli to achieve functional and coverage goals.
  • Debug and analyze design issues; work with design and architecture teams to resolve root causes.
  • Track and drive functional and code coverage to ensure verification completeness.
  • Collaborate with firmware, validation, and system teams to validate end-to-end behavior.
  • Support silicon bring-up and correlate pre-silicon verification with post-silicon results.
  • Improve verification methodologies, tools, and automation workflows.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience are listed below; preferred items are noted separately.

  • Solid understanding of digital design fundamentals and verification concepts.
  • 5–8 years of experience in digital design verification; experience with modem or wireless PHY designs preferred.
  • Practical experience with SystemVerilog and UVM (or similar) verification methodologies.
  • Strong debugging skills and experience analyzing simulation results to identify root causes.
  • Familiarity with scripting for automation (Python or Perl).
  • Basic understanding of wireless communication systems or digital signal processing concepts.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience verifying wireless standards (BLE, Wi‑Fi, Zigbee, etc.).
  • Advanced verification techniques: constrained-random, coverage-driven verification, SVA.
  • Familiarity with C/C++ or MATLAB for algorithm modeling and reference models.
  • Experience with mixed-signal or system-level verification and post-silicon validation.
  • Experience with low-power design verification and power-aware methodologies.

Education Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering (BSEE/CE) or a related field is listed as the educational expectation.
