Job Title
Senior Mixed Signal Design Engineer
Role Summary
Join the Hearables and Wearables consumer business unit to design high-performance, ultra-low-power mixed-signal integrated circuits for audio and edge processing devices. The role covers architecture, design, simulation, characterization, and release-to-production of mixed-signal ICs.
Will collaborate with digital design, verification, and layout teams; occasional travel (~10%) for lab work or cross-site collaboration.
Experience Level
Senior. Typical background: several years of CMOS mixed-signal IC design experience; candidates with 5+ years of relevant IC design experience are common for this role.
Responsibilities
Deliver mixed-signal ICs from concept to production and support system integration.
- Lead architectural definition and block-level design for complex mixed-signal ICs.
- Drive mixed-signal integration and system-level tradeoffs to meet performance and power targets.
- Perform schematic design, verification, and post-layout simulation.
- Develop and execute laboratory characterization and test strategies addressing performance, noise, timing, and power.
- Support chip-level integration and verification with digital and verification teams.
- Diagnose and resolve complex IC issues in the laboratory environment.
- Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers and influence design approaches.
Requirements
Core technical skills and experience required for successful performance in this role.
- Proven record of designing and integrating mixed-signal blocks (ADC/DAC, amplifiers, switched-capacitor circuits, comparators, integrators, voltage references, LDOs).
- Experience with schematic-level design, verification flows, and post-layout simulation/validation.
- Hands-on laboratory characterization experience and ability to translate measurements into design fixes.
- Ability to define and implement test strategies that meet noise, timing, and power requirements.
- Strong cross-team collaboration and clear written/verbal communication skills.
- Experience managing layout interactions and coordinating with layout teams for tape-out readiness.
Nice-to-have:
- Audio ADC/DAC design experience and power-management IC background.
- Familiarity with Cadence schematic capture and SPICE-based simulation.
- Proficiency with MATLAB or similar modeling tools and DSP concepts.
- Analog/digital behavioral modelling expertise.
Education Requirements
M.S. in Electrical Engineering with 5+ years of CMOS IC design experience, or a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering.
