Job Title

Senior Mixed Signal Design Engineer

Role Summary

Join the Digital Controls & Mixed Signal Engineering team to architect and develop mixed-signal electronics for advanced Magnetic Resonance (MR) imaging platforms. This is a hands-on technical leadership role focused on hardware architecture, board design, verification, and system integration across analog, digital, and embedded domains.

Experience Level

Senior - requires 5+ years of mixed-signal hardware design experience.

Responsibilities

Primary technical responsibilities and ownership for mixed-signal hardware delivered on MR platforms.

  • Lead architecture, design, implementation, and verification of mixed-signal hardware for MR systems.
  • Design circuit boards with processors, FPGAs, analog circuitry, data converters, communication interfaces, and power management.
  • Own schematic capture, design reviews, board bring-up, debugging, and system integration.
  • Define and validate interfaces between hardware, FPGA, firmware, software, and mechanical subsystems.
  • Perform circuit analysis, simulation, laboratory characterization, and root-cause investigations.
  • Support PCB layout, signal integrity, power integrity, EMC, reliability, and manufacturability reviews.
  • Develop hardware design standards, reusable architectures, and engineering best practices.
  • Evaluate semiconductor, processor, power management, and interface technologies and influence platform roadmaps.
  • Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership across multiple programs.
  • Support products through the full lifecycle from concept and architecture through manufacturing and field support.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience. Preferred items listed separately.

  • 5+ years of mixed-signal hardware design experience.
  • Experience designing and debugging complex circuit boards containing processors, FPGAs, analog circuits, and communication interfaces.
  • Strong understanding of analog and digital electronics, power systems, signal conditioning, and embedded hardware design.
  • Experience with schematic capture, board bring-up, hardware troubleshooting, and laboratory verification.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard interfaces such as Ethernet, CAN, USB, SPI, I²C, UART, PCIe, or similar.
  • Proficient using oscilloscopes, waveform generators, spectrum analyzers, logic analyzers, and related lab equipment.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States; this position does not offer visa sponsorship.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with high-speed digital interfaces and data converters.
  • Experience with SPICE, MATLAB, or similar modeling and simulation tools.
  • Experience in medical devices, aerospace, defense, or other regulated industries.
  • Experience with Design for Reliability (DFR), Design for Manufacturability (DFM), and EMC-compliant design practices.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is required. Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related field is preferred.
