Job Title
Senior Member of Technical Staff (SMTS) – Process Development, Thin Films (CVD/Diffusion), NAND
Role Summary
The Senior Member of Technical Staff is a technical authority for NAND advanced thin films. The role sets technical direction, architects solutions, and leads multi-functional projects that impact department-level goals.
Primary focus areas include advanced thin film process development (CVD/PECVD/ALD/thermal), integration/fixing, vendor engagement, and mentoring technical staff to build engineering capability.
Experience Level
Senior-level; requires extensive hands-on R&D and leadership experience in thin films and process development for NAND technologies.
Responsibilities
Core responsibilities include technical leadership, process development, and cross-functional integration.
- Define technical strategy and lead cross-functional projects for structural and electrical film development.
- Architect process and integration solutions; influence technical standards and drive process improvements.
- Lead advanced process development, fixing, and module integration; validate cross-module and device/process linkages using wafer-level electricals.
- Perform complex problem solving across process/structure/hardware/device interactions (RCA, FMEA, SPC) and implement corrective actions that recover window without yield trade-offs.
- Manage vendor engagements to develop hardware/process capability and secure required resources.
- Mentor engineers, build subject-matter expertise pipelines, and publish internal best practices and technical summaries for leadership.
- Integrate AI-assisted tools and insights to improve efficiency, quality, and effectiveness within organizational and legal standards.
Requirements
Key technical and interpersonal requirements. Degree and specific years are summarized under Education Requirements below and are omitted here to avoid duplication.
-
Must-have technical skills: Advanced thin film processing expertise (PECVD, thermal CVD, ALD) with hands-on equipment optimization for dielectric and carbon films.
- Advanced characterization methods and correlation modeling that link process parameters to reliability and scaling behavior.
- Deep understanding of process-mechanical-device interactions relevant to NAND scaling and integration.
-
Must-have soft skills: Recognized technical authority, high-impact influence, proven mentorship ability, clear executive communication, and cross-site leadership mindset.
-
Preferred: Demonstrated leadership in multi-functional development projects and vendor collaboration.
Education Requirements
PhD with at least 12 years of relevant experience, or Master’s with at least 15 years of relevant experience, in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field.
