Job Title
Senior Member of Technical Staff (SMTS) – Process Development, Cell Film, NAND
Role Summary
The Senior Member of Technical Staff is the technical authority for 3D NAND cell film development, responsible for defining technical strategy, architecting solutions, and leading cross-functional initiatives to deliver process integration, reliability, and yield targets.
Works within Process Development at Fab 10N/X (Singapore) to integrate unit processes into full cell packages, accelerate innovation adoption, and mentor engineers to build subject-matter expertise.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Requires extensive senior technical leadership and hands-on R&D experience in advanced NAND cell film/process development; see Education Requirements for degree and years guidance.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include technical strategy, process integration, advanced characterization, and organizational capability building.
- Define technical strategy and architect robust process solutions for advanced 3D NAND cell film integration.
- Lead advanced process development, fixing, and integration while ensuring no yield trade-offs.
- Integrate unit processes into full cell packages and validate device/process linkages through wafer-level electrical testing.
- Drive complex root-cause analysis across process, hardware, and device interactions (RCA, FMEA, SPC) and implement corrective actions to recover windows without yield loss.
- Use advanced characterization (SIMS, XPS, TEM, EDX/EELS, electrical stress testing, TDS) to correlate process parameters to device performance and build predictive reliability/scaling models.
- Lead vendor engagements to advance capability and influence technical standards across the organization.
- Publish internal best-known-methods and present technical results to senior leadership.
- Mentor engineers through structured development to build an SME pipeline and elevate team technical excellence.
- Integrate AI-assisted tools and insights into work processes to improve efficiency, quality, and effectiveness, while complying with organizational standards.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and professional attributes (degree and years guidance are in Education Requirements).
- Deep expertise in ALD/CVD thin film processing, including nitride/oxide systems, inhibitor chemistries, multi-layer ONO stacks, and barrier/protection layers.
- Hands-on leadership in cell film hardware and equipment optimization: precursor delivery, temperature control, chamber matching/segregation, batch vs. single-wafer trade-offs, and metrology integration.
- Experience in Thin Film R&D for NAND, specifically diffusion, CVD, and cell film technologies.
- Strong command of process–device interactions, reliability modeling, and 3D NAND scaling; ability to correlate materials, structures, and electrical behavior to enable scaling and sustain yield.
- Expert use of advanced characterization techniques (SIMS, XPS, TEM, EDX/EELS, electrical stress testing) for RCA, window recovery, and predictive modeling.
- Proven ability to lead complex technical problem-solving, influence cross-functional teams and vendors, and mentor engineers.
- Record of technical contributions such as publications or patents.
- Structured problem-solving, learning agility, clear communication, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Experience applying AI-assisted tools to improve process development productivity and quality.
Education Requirements
PhD with at least 12 years of relevant experience, or Master’s with at least 15 years of relevant experience, in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field. The posting highlights publications/patents and significant technical contributions. No alternative "equivalent experience" language was provided.
