Senior Manufacturing Test Engineer

Role Summary

Lead development and deployment of manufacturing test solutions for PCBA and system-level Final Assembly Test (FAT) across global contract manufacturers. Own test strategy from new product introduction (NPI) through production ramp, collaborate with R&D and operations, and drive yield and quality improvements.

This role focuses on hands-on test development, troubleshooting, test infrastructure delivery, and stakeholder coordination to ensure robust, repeatable manufacturing test processes.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Analyze manufacturing test yield fallout and field escapes; perform root cause analysis and implement corrective/preventive actions.
  • Develop and execute PCBA and system-level FAT test development activities; manage dependencies with internal teams and contract manufacturers.
  • Troubleshoot software, firmware, and hardware issues; collaborate with R&D to resolve complex problems.
  • Plan and manage test capacity, equipment scheduling, and risk mitigation for NPI timelines and production ramps.
  • Design, develop, and deploy test infrastructure and fixtures at global CM partner sites; ensure equipment calibration and maintenance.
  • Author and release test strategies, test plans, process documentation, and validation artifacts.
  • Provide on-site functional test support during production, monitor test stability, and manage releases and factory qualification testing.
  • Publish and monitor KPIs and metrics to drive continuous improvement in manufacturing test and yield.
  • Coordinate cross-functionally and communicate test status, dependencies, and design-for-test (DFT) needs.

Requirements

Must-have qualifications and skills:

  • 8+ years of senior manufacturing/test engineering experience with complex PCBA and FATP systems in semiconductor, EDA, ATE, or similar industries.
  • Proven ability to develop test strategies, evaluate test coverage, and lead NPI-to-production ramps.
  • Strong statistical analysis skills and experience with yield improvement methodologies.
  • Hands-on proficiency with lab test instrumentation (oscilloscopes, DMMs, hipot, etc.) and test data collection.
  • Working knowledge of PCBA manufacturing and repair processes and ability to read/interpretelectrical schematics.
  • Experience managing test infrastructure, equipment calibration, and factory qualification testing.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.

Nice-to-have:

  • Automation and data skills: Python/Perl, C#/VB.NET, SQL, SPC/CPK, yield analytics.
  • Experience working with international R&D teams and global contract manufacturers.
  • Familiarity with ATE systems and semiconductor test environments.

Education Requirements
