Senior Manager, System Software - Automotive

Role Summary

Lead an engineering team responsible for porting NVIDIA DRIVE OS and autonomous driving software to OEM vehicle platforms. Drive end-to-end program execution from system architecture through vehicle and system integration, ensuring delivery, quality, and customer success.

The role coordinates across architecture, platform, and integration teams and engages directly with OEM customers to define requirements and resolve technical issues.

Experience Level

Senior-level β€” typically requires 12+ years in automotive or embedded systems engineering with 5+ years of engineering leadership or management experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include system architecture, program delivery, vehicle integration, and team leadership:

  • Lead, grow, and mentor an engineering team porting DRIVE OS and autonomous driving software to OEM platforms.
  • Translate OEM product requirements into software component decomposition and define ownership, boundaries, and interfaces.
  • Drive software architecture for OEM driving functions (up to L3) and maintain end-to-end traceability with the Vehicle Abstraction Layer and related stacks.
  • Coordinate execution across architecture, platform, and integration teams and own program milestones, quality, and customer expectations.
  • Engage directly with OEM customers for requirements definition, integration support, and technical issue resolution.
  • Ensure compliance with functional safety (ISO 26262) and automotive quality standards.
  • Define and execute system and vehicle integration strategy, including HIL/SIL infrastructure, data collection readiness, and function bring-up.
  • Scale team capabilities through strategic hiring, onboarding, and continuous organizational development.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience:

  • 12+ years in automotive or embedded systems engineering with 5+ years of leadership or management experience.
  • Strong proficiency in C, C++, and Python; experience with QNX and/or Linux.
  • Fundamental knowledge of SoC architectures, on-chip components, CPU/GPU architectures, and multicore/heterogeneous SoCs.
  • Understanding of OS internals, multi-threading, inter-process communication, memory management, and data structures.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with BSP porting and device driver internals.
  • Experience with camera/imaging/video/graphics/compute systems and autonomous vehicle sensors.
  • Excellent communication, organization, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
  • Willingness to travel internationally to support partners.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with QNX OS for Safety (QOS).
  • Autonomous vehicle system integration experience.
  • Familiarity with Automotive SPICE and ISO 26262.
  • Extensive customer support experience, both onsite and offsite.

Education Requirements

Degree (BS, MS, or higher) in engineering or computer science from a leading university, or equivalent practical experience.
