Senior Manager, SoC Verification
MicrochipJob Title
Senior Manager, SoC Verification
Role Summary
Lead the SoC verification effort for the dsPIC Microcontroller Business Unit, ensuring functional integrity of next-generation 32-bit MCU products and driving first-pass silicon success.
Manage and scale a global team of 20+ verification engineers to deliver verification strategies and sign-off across multiple concurrent MCU projects using UVM, Formal, and automation techniques.
Experience Level
Senior - typically requires 15+ years in SoC verification with at least 5 years in a leadership or management role.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities focus on technical leadership, team management, and delivery of verification sign-off for MCU projects.
- Define and own end-to-end verification strategy from test-plan through tape-out sign-off for multiple MCU projects.
- Lead, mentor, and scale a global team of 20+ verification engineers; manage resourcing and performance.
- Design and refine scalable, reusable testbench architectures supporting both simulation (UVM) and formal flows.
- Drive adoption of Formal Verification, power-aware verification (UPF/CPF), and hardware–software co-verification practices.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Architecture, RTL Design, DSP, and Physical Design teams to resolve integration and architectural issues.
- Improve verification efficiency through automation, scripting (Python/Perl), and integration of advanced/AI-driven verification tools.
- Define and manage coverage-driven verification metrics and large regression suites; oversee module-level plans, testbench integration, assertions, and coverpoints.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for this role.
- 15+ years of SoC verification experience with demonstrated leadership in delivering tape-outs for 32-bit microcontrollers.
- Minimum 5 years in a formal management or leadership role overseeing verification teams.
- Proven experience verifying MCU peripherals (DMA, Timers, ADC/DAC interfaces, Security modules).
- Direct experience verifying SoCs with ARM cores (Cortex-M) and proprietary RISC-based architectures.
- Expert-level SystemVerilog and UVM proficiency.
- Strong hands-on Formal Verification experience (property and connectivity checking) with tools such as JasperGold or VC Formal.
- In-depth knowledge of AMBA bus protocols (AHB, APB, AXI).
- Experience defining coverage-driven verification metrics, developing module-level verification plans, testbench development, and full-chip integration.
Nice-to-have:
- Gate-level simulation and power-aware verification experience.
- Post-silicon validation and customer support alignment with pre-silicon plans.
- Analog/mixed-signal (AMS) simulation experience.
- Familiarity with functional safety standards such as ISO 26262 for automotive applications.
Education Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science is required; strong digital design fundamentals expected.
