Role Summary

Lead a team of layout engineers in the Automatic Test Equipment (ATE) organization to deliver physical design for high-performance analog, mixed-signal and digital IC subsystems. Own layout strategy, methodologies and signoff for complex designs in advanced CMOS FinFET technologies.

Experience Level

Senior-level. Role expects significant leadership experience and technical authority; the posting specifies 10+ years of full-custom IC layout experience.

Responsibilities

Deliver technical leadership, team management, and end-to-end physical design for complex IC projects.

• Manage and mentor a local team of layout engineers working in advanced CMOS FinFET technologies (16 nm and below).
• Act as physical design lead for high-speed analog, mixed-signal and digital subsystems (ADCs, DACs, PLLs, transceivers, receivers).
• Define and drive floorplanning at block, subsystem and full-chip levels for large, complex designs.
• Coordinate cross-functional activities with DFT, clock/timing, power integrity, RTL, packaging and analog teams to achieve design closure.
• Develop and improve design methodologies, automation workflows and best practices; promote knowledge sharing.
• Lead physical verification and signoff activities, including DRC, LVS, ERC, extraction, EM/IR analysis and density checks.
• Prepare and monitor project schedules and milestones to ensure timely delivery of design targets.
• Provide technical mentorship and career development for layout engineers.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience for immediate contribution; concise list of preferred additions follows.

• 10+ years of hands-on full-custom IC layout experience (advanced CMOS FinFET processes).
• Strong proficiency with Cadence Virtuoso and VXL.
• Deep practical knowledge of physical verification and debug: LVS, DRC, antenna checks, extraction, EM/IR analysis.
• Proven technical authority with the ability to influence cross-organization technical decisions.
• Demonstrated leadership: team management, mentoring, and promoting collaborative environments.
• Experience driving design methodologies, automation and design-for-manufacturing/DFT practices.
• Effective cross-functional communication with architects, RTL designers, packaging and verification teams.
• Willingness to travel for customer or site collaboration (~10% travel).
• Preferred: deep experience with ADC/DAC/PLL/transceiver layouts and process optimization techniques.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
