Senior Manager, Field Applications Engineer (FAE)
Role Summary
Lead technical engagement and execution for Renesas' strategic datacenter accounts, focusing on system-level power architectures for AI accelerators, servers, and networking platforms. This player/coach role balances hands-on technical ownership of complex customer programs with management and development of a team of power-supply FAEs.

Senior β typically 8+ years of relevant experience, including leadership or player/coach responsibilities.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include customer-facing technical leadership, hands-on debugging and validation, and team/program management.
- Act as senior technical interface for top datacenter accounts from concept through production.
- Drive system-level power architecture reviews for digital multiphase solutions, power modules, VRMs, and high-current low-voltage conversion.
- Perform hands-on schematic/layout feedback, validation planning, bring-up, power-sequencing and transient-response analysis.
- Troubleshoot complex power issues using lab instrumentation (oscilloscopes, current probes, electronic loads, transient analysis tools).
- Lead technical escalations and coordinate with internal engineering teams to resolve customer issues quickly.
- Prepare and deliver customer-facing technical materials: validation results, technical summaries, program updates, and closure reports.
- Manage program execution, track milestones and risks, and provide concise technical updates to senior leadership.
- Partner with Sales, Product Line, and Marketing to align customer priorities and influence product roadmap based on field insights.
- Coordinate technical handoffs and shared engagements across global FAE teams.
Requirements
Must-have technical and leadership qualifications; preferred items listed after.
- Significant prior experience as a Field Applications Engineer supporting power supply or power management products.
- 8+ years of experience in power electronics, digital multiphase power delivery, server or AI platform power, or related hardware systems.
- Deep technical expertise with power modules, digital multiphase controllers, VRMs, and high-current low-voltage conversion.
- Strong lab-based debug skills using oscilloscopes, current probes, electronic loads, and transient-response analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to interface directly with customers and drive technical issues to closure.
- At least 2 years of people leadership experience (team lead, supervisory, managerial, or equivalent player/coach role).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical, customer, and executive audiences.

Nice-to-have: experience with hyperscale datacenter customers, PMBus/telemetry familiarity, and prior success developing early-career engineers and managing multiple high-priority programs.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
