Job Title
Senior Manager, Field Applications Engineer (FAE)
Role Summary
Lead a team of Field Applications Engineers supporting datacenter customers across AI, server, and networking markets. Balance hands-on technical ownership of system power programs with strategic people and program leadership.
Experience Level
Senior — requires substantial technical and leadership experience (guidance: 8+ years in power electronics or related hardware and 2+ years of people leadership).
Responsibilities
Manage technical engagements and team delivery for strategic datacenter accounts while remaining hands-on on complex power system debug and validation.
- Act as lead technical interface for strategic datacenter customers; drive system-level power architecture from concept to production.
- Provide expert support on digital multiphase controllers, power modules, VRMs, and high-current low-voltage conversion.
- Perform schematic reviews, layout feedback, validation planning, bring-up, power-sequencing analysis, transient response evaluation, and debug.
- Troubleshoot complex power issues using oscilloscopes, current probes, electronic loads, and transient analysis tools.
- Own technical program execution and reporting: track milestones, risks, CAPEX needs, and provide clear updates to leadership.
- Lead, mentor, and develop FAEs; set role expectations, onboard new graduates, and manage resource allocation across customer programs.
- Coordinate with Sales, Product Line, Marketing, and global FAE teams to align priorities and influence product roadmaps.
Requirements
Must-have technical and leadership qualifications; preferred items listed separately.
- 8+ years experience in power electronics, digital multiphase power delivery, server/AI platform power, or related hardware systems.
- Proven hands-on experience with power modules, digital multiphase controllers, VRMs, and server-class power delivery.
- Strong proficiency in lab-based debug: oscilloscopes, current probes, electronic loads, and transient analysis tools.
- Demonstrated ability to interface directly with customers on complex technical topics and drive issues to closure.
- 2+ years of people leadership experience (team lead, supervisor, manager, or equivalent player–coach role).
- Experience supporting system bring-up, validation, or debug for server, AI accelerator, or networking hardware.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences.
Nice-to-have
- Experience supporting hyperscale datacenter customers (AWS, Google, Microsoft, Meta, NVIDIA, etc.).
- Expertise in system-level power architecture for AI/ML accelerators, CPUs, or high-end networking platforms.
- Familiarity with PMBus, telemetry systems, and digital control for multiphase power.
- Proven success developing early-career engineers and building high-performance technical teams.
- Strong cross-functional leadership with Product Line, Marketing, Sales, or Systems Engineering organizations.
Education Requirements
Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field. Preferred: Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline. (No certifications specified.)
