Senior Manager / Director, Emerging Applications & Technology Architecture

Role Summary

Lead a team of system and application architects to define, develop, and commercialize semiconductor-enabled system solutions for emerging markets (AI, robotics, autonomous systems, drones/UAVs, industrial automation, functional safety, edge intelligence, IoT).

Act as the strategic interface between customers, partners, product groups, and engineering to convert market opportunities into system architectures, solution roadmaps, and product requirements.

Experience Level

Senior-level. Requires 12+ years of experience in semiconductor, embedded systems, system architecture, or related technology roles and 5+ years of leadership experience managing technical teams or senior engineering professionals.

Responsibilities

Own technical strategy and lead cross-functional teams to deliver system-level solutions and influence product roadmaps.

• Define and drive system architecture strategy for emerging applications and technologies.
• Identify, evaluate, and prioritize new market opportunities and technology trends.
• Translate customer and market requirements into actionable system architectures and solution roadmaps.
• Lead development of system-level architectures and end-to-end semiconductor-enabled solutions using MCUs, MPUs, SoCs, analog, power, sensing, AI, and connectivity products.
• Drive hardware/software partitioning, system trade-offs, and technology selection to optimize performance, cost, security, and power.
• Oversee specifications, reference designs, proofs-of-concept, and demonstrations for customer engagements.
• Influence product groups and support product definition with application and system-level requirements.
• Build and mentor a high-performing architecture team and develop ecosystem partnerships with customers, partners, startups, and research institutions.
• Represent the company externally at customer meetings, industry forums, and technical conferences.

Requirements

Must-have:

• 12+ years experience in semiconductor, embedded systems, system architecture, or technology development.
• 5+ years of leadership experience managing technical teams or senior engineering professionals.
• Proven track record delivering complex embedded systems and semiconductor-based solutions.
• Expertise in one or more domains: AI/Edge AI, robotics/autonomous systems, drones/UAVs, industrial automation, functional safety, IoT/connected systems.
• Experience with system-level architecture, hardware/software co-design, and multi-disciplinary solution development.
• Strong understanding of semiconductor technologies, embedded software, connectivity, sensing, power management, and edge computing.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and executive presentation skills; fluent in English.

Nice-to-have / Preferred:

• Experience with semiconductor product definition and roadmap planning.
• Familiarity with functional safety standards (ISO 26262, IEC 61508, IEC 62061) and cybersecurity considerations.
• Experience deploying AI/ML in embedded or edge systems.
• Proven customer-facing technical leadership and ecosystem development experience.
• Experience working in global and cross-cultural organizations.

Education Requirements

Master's degree or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
