Job Title
Senior Manager, ASIC NPI (Amazon Leo)
Role Summary
The Senior Manager leads Silicon New Product Introduction (NPI) for Amazon Leo, responsible for transitioning complex ASIC products from design to high-volume manufacturing. This role coordinates engineering validation, manufacturing yield, supply-chain readiness, and cost optimization across cross-functional teams to meet EVT/DVT/PVT milestones and production ramps.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Typical background: 10+ years of management experience and ~12–15+ years in semiconductor operations, NPI, or product engineering with experience in high-volume silicon manufacturing.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities focus on end-to-end NPI strategy, manufacturing readiness, and ensuring successful transfer to mass production.
- Define and own silicon NPI strategy, aligning Product Management, Engineering, and Operations to meet EVT/DVT/PVT milestones.
- Drive Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Test (DFT) requirements across design, fab, assembly, and test.
- Optimize wafer fabrication, 3D/advanced packaging, assembly, and test processes to maximize yield and control cost.
- Oversee vendor management, contract manufacturer strategy, and material procurement to ensure capacity and timely engineering builds.
- Lead cross-functional teams to resolve technical and supply constraints during NPI and enable seamless transfer to mass production.
- Ensure product quality and reliability meet specifications prior to product release, in coordination with Quality teams.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills, experience, and legal eligibility.
- 10+ years of management experience leading large, diverse, cross-functional teams in fast-paced environments.
- Approximately 12–15+ years in semiconductor operations, NPI, or product engineering with a proven record in high-volume silicon manufacturing.
- Deep technical understanding of silicon wafer fabs, advanced/3D packaging, and complex ASIC development.
- Demonstrated experience driving manufacturing yield improvements and cost optimization across fab, assembly, and test.
- Experience managing contract manufacturers, suppliers, and material readiness for engineering and production builds.
- Strong program execution skills to identify and remove technical or supply-chain bottlenecks during NPI.
- Legal requirement: must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, U.S. permanent resident (Green Card holder), refugee, or granted asylum due to export control rules.
- Nice-to-have: hands-on experience with advanced packaging integration, reliability qualification, or large-scale satellite/telecom hardware programs.
Education Requirements
Required: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Preferred: Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related technical field.
