Senior Lead Engineer - Post-Si Validation
QualcommJob Title
Senior Lead Engineer - Post-Si Validation
Role Summary
Member of the Snapdragon SoC Silicon Validation team responsible for post-silicon bring-up, validation software enablement, and regression execution to enable VI content in production. Works with IP validation and systems teams to develop, port and run validation content and to debug hardware-software issues.
Experience Level
Senior. Typical experience guidance from the posting: ~3+ years (Bachelor's), ~2+ years (Master's), or ~1+ year (PhD) of ASIC design/verification/validation/integration experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Bring up SVE convex infrastructure and IST framework for VI content enablement in production.
- Understand IP architecture and collaborate with IP validation and systems validation engineers to define validation requirements and develop/port/enhance validation software.
- Own and execute SoC regression suites, covering design corner cases for power and performance.
- Execute validation releases on bench in the lab and support SLT teams with debug and framework feature enablement.
- Use silicon debug hooks to measure power, performance, coverage and other KPI metrics; report and track failures.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams for regular reporting of issues and debug status.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- Experience with ASIC design, verification, validation or integration (see Experience Level for years guidance).
- Understanding of processor architecture and multicore/heterogeneous core systems (SMP/MTE).
- Proficient in C for low-level programming and assembly; experience with C–assembly interworking.
- Familiarity with operating systems/RTOS/Linux kernel internals (scheduling, locking, MMU/paging).
- Experience using JTAG debuggers, compilers/linkers and following a software development lifecycle.
- Hands-on experience running SoC regressions and bench validation.
Nice-to-have:
- Exposure to emulation/pre-silicon environments, FPGA/emulation bring-up and software enablement for silicon validation.
- Knowledge of SoC architecture (interconnects, power management) and software for power/performance KPIs.
- Familiarity with ARM Cortex-A, x86 or PowerPC CPU and memory system architecture, weakly ordered memory models and memory barriers.
- Experience optimizing multithreaded applications for higher performance at lower power; top-level ASIC design methodology exposure.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering or a related field (typically with ~3+ years relevant experience), or Master's degree in Science, Engineering or related field (~2+ years), or PhD in Science, Engineering or related field (~1+ year). Fields referenced: science and engineering or related technical disciplines. No specific certifications were required in the posting.
