Senior Layout Engineer (f/m/d)
Role Summary
Develop analog and mixed-signal IC layouts for automotive sensor products, including Sensor ASICs, ASSPs, position sensors, LiDAR ASICs and environmental sensors. Work within an engineering team based in Dresden, Munich or Bingen am Rhein to deliver tape-outs, optimize manufacturability and reduce silicon cost.

Responsibilities
Responsible for block- and top-level chip layout, verification and manufacturability for multiple tape-outs.
- Create block-level and top-level layouts following Renesas product development process and industry best practices.
- Own layout design for multiple IC tape-outs and test structures.
- Implement chip-level requirements using parameterized layout and standard design flows (LVS, DRC, DFM).
- Support and implement block- and top-level specifications.
- Design layouts focused on yield and manufacturability, ensuring optimized silicon COGS.
- Perform and ensure DRC and LVS checks and resolve layout verification issues.
Requirements
Key technical skills and practical experience required.
- Proven experience with Cadence Virtuoso and Cadence tool flows for layout.
- Experience with Calibre DRC and LVS for layout verification.
- Experience with parasitic extraction using Calibre and Cadence tools and subsequent analysis.
- Practical knowledge of parameterized layout, LVS, DRC and DFM practices.
- Ability to produce first-time-right layouts that meet manufacturability and cost targets.
- Good written and oral technical reporting and communication skills; teamwork and self-motivation.
- Fluent English; German language skills are a plus.
Education Requirements
Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Microelectronics, Microsystems or a similar technical field is required. Fundamental knowledge of semiconductor device physics and microelectronics is expected.
