Senior Layout Designer
Role Summary
The Senior Layout Designer creates and optimizes physical IC layouts to meet manufacturing, cost, quality, reliability, and time-to-market targets. The role partners with Design Engineering, Product Engineering, Process Integration, Probe, and Assembly teams to ensure designs are manufacturable and meet product requirements.
Experience Level
Senior-level. The posting specifies degree-based experience guidance: B.S. Electrical Engineering with 2+ years or M.S. Electrical Engineering with 1+ years.
Responsibilities
Work across engineering and manufacturing teams to produce manufacturable IC layouts and support product readiness.
- Develop and optimize physical layout for analog and digital blocks to meet manufacturability and performance targets.
- Collaborate with Design Engineering, Product Engineering, Process Integration, Probe, and Assembly to resolve layout and manufacturing issues.
- Ensure layouts satisfy cost, reliability, and quality requirements and support time-to-market goals.
- Perform design reviews, documentation, and handoff for fabrication and assembly.
- Troubleshoot layout-related LVS/DRC failures and iterate designs with verification tools.
Requirements

- Proven experience using Cadence Virtuoso for physical layout.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Self-motivated team player with demonstrated collaboration skills.
- Good written and verbal communication and documentation skills.
Nice-to-have:
- Knowledge of layout synthesis and place-and-route techniques.
- Experience with LVS and DRC tools such as Calibre.
- Familiarity with AI-enabled tools for floor planning, place-and-route.
- Experience with standard-cell construction and analog layout techniques.
Education Requirements
B.S. in Electrical Engineering (requires 2+ years of related experience) or M.S. in Electrical Engineering (requires 1+ years). Coursework in CMOS circuit design, VLSI, and experience crafting physical circuit layouts is specified.
