Senior Layout Design Engineer, HBM
Micron TechnologyJob Title
Senior Layout Design Engineer, HBM
Role Summary
Join Micron's HBM layout team in Guadalajara to design and deliver block- and chip-level custom layouts for High Bandwidth Memory used in AI and high-performance computing. The role works across global engineering teams on multiple concurrent projects.
Experience Level
Senior β requires significant hands-on layout experience; the posting requests 7+ years of relevant experience.
Responsibilities
Lead and execute physical layout tasks and coordinate delivery across projects.
- Design and develop analog, mixed-signal, custom digital blocks and support full-chip integration.
- Perform layout verification activities (DRC/LVS/antenna checks), quality checks, and documentation.
- Ensure on-time delivery of block-level layouts that meet quality requirements.
- Plan, estimate area/time, schedule, delegate, and execute to meet project milestones across multiple projects.
- Mentor and review work of junior and senior team members on sub-block layouts.
- Communicate effectively with global engineering teams to drive successful project outcomes.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items listed when applicable.
- 7+ years of experience in analog/custom layout design in advanced CMOS processes (planar and FinFET nodes).
- Expertise with Cadence VLE/VXL and Mentor Graphics Calibre DRC/LVS.
- Hands-on experience creating layouts of critical analog blocks (temperature sensor, PLL, ADC, DAC, LDO, bandgap, reference generators, charge pump, current mirrors, comparators, differential amplifiers, etc.).
- Knowledge of analog layout fundamentals: matching, electromigration, latch-up, coupling, crosstalk, IR-drop, and parasitic effects.
- Understanding of how layout affects circuit speed, capacitance, power and area; ability to apply design constraints to produce high-quality layouts.
- Experience with layout verification and physical verification problem solving.
- Nice-to-have: multiple tape-out experience and experience managing multiple layout projects with quality assurance at all stages.
Education Requirements
BE (Bachelor of Engineering) or MTech in Electronics/VLSI Engineering or a related technical discipline.
