Job Title

Senior Lab DSP Communication Engineer

Role Summary

Work at the intersection of simulation and lab validation for high-speed wireline SerDes links. The role analyzes lab measurements, refines simulation models, and helps shape DSP architecture and modeling strategies for current and next-generation designs.

Collaborate with analog and digital designers, signal-integrity experts, and post-silicon engineers to debug complex phenomena and improve chip bring-up and system-level performance.

Experience Level

Senior level. Preferably 5+ years of relevant experience in signal processing or communications engineering.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities focus on improving lab visibility, correlating measurements with simulators, and contributing to DSP and system architecture.

  • Develop hardware tools and lab flows to improve debuggability and measurement visibility.
  • Correlate simulation results with lab measurements to improve model accuracy.
  • Characterize and evaluate analog and digital blocks in the lab to inform DSP architecture and modeling.
  • Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks observed in lab testing and post-silicon bring-up.
  • Work cross-functionally with designers and signal-integrity teams to ensure models reflect real system behavior.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience, followed by concise nice-to-have items.

  • Must-have: 5+ years of experience in signal processing or communications engineering.
  • Must-have: Strong MATLAB development skills.
  • Must-have: Solid understanding of high-speed communication systems and mixed-signal processing.
  • Must-have: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Must-have: Excellent collaboration and cross-team communication skills.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience in signal integrity.
  • Background in chip or mixed-signal design.
  • Strong Python development skills.
  • Hands-on lab experience with communication systems.

Education Requirements

BS, MS, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
