Senior Integration/API Architect
PsiQuantumJob Title
Senior Integration/API Architect
Role Summary
Design and scale the integration architecture that connects photonic IC, passive, and active IC design toolchains. Join the software solutions team to enable automation, reproducibility, and traceability across schematic capture, layout, simulation, verification, and manufacturing workflows.
Work at the intersection of software engineering and hardware/EDA environments to standardize APIs, canonical data models, and orchestration for production-grade toolchains.
Experience Level
Senior β 7+ years of software engineering experience with significant systems integration or platform architecture exposure.
Responsibilities
Lead the design and delivery of integration platforms, APIs, and middleware to support engineering and manufacturing flows.
- Design and standardize APIs (REST, gRPC, event-driven) and establish versioning, schema validation, and backward-compatibility strategies.
- Build and maintain middleware/adapters for commercial and proprietary EDA, simulation, and in-house tools with inconsistent or limited APIs.
- Define canonical data models and govern schema/versioning to preserve design intent and traceability from schematic through tape-out.
- Implement observability and traceability (logging, metrics, data lineage) to ensure reproducibility and auditability of design runs.
- Integrate CI/CD, containerization, and orchestration into engineering workflows and production pipelines.
- Collaborate with device, layout, and simulation engineers to translate domain requirements into robust platform abstractions.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experiences for immediate contribution; preferred items noted when relevant.
- 7+ years of software engineering experience with significant exposure to systems integration or platform architecture.
- Proven experience designing and governing APIs across heterogeneous, multi-tool environments.
- Strong production-grade Python skills; experience with at least one backend/systems language (Go, C++, Java, Rust, etc.).
- Familiarity with data interchange formats (Protocol Buffers, Avro) and integration with data platforms (Databricks, Tableau, etc.).
- Experience integrating proprietary/vendor software with limited or inconsistent APIs; building adapters and middleware.
- Experience defining canonical data models and managing schema/versioning strategies.
- Experience with CI/CD systems, containerization (Docker), and orchestration platforms (Kubernetes or equivalent).
- Experience implementing logging, monitoring, and observability for distributed systems.
- Strong software architecture fundamentals: modularity, loose coupling, scalability, and reliability.
- Experience in engineering-heavy domains (EDA, semiconductor, hardware, or scientific computing) preferred.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively across teams, sites, and time zones.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field.
