Senior Hardware Verification Engineer

Role Summary

Join the Hexagon DSP AI verification team to plan and execute verification for complex processor, DSP and AI-acceleration designs used in mobile, automotive and compute products. Work with architects, design and software teams to ensure functional correctness and drive verification methodology improvements.

Experience Level

Senior - this role expects an experienced verification engineer, typically 4+ years of hardware verification experience (qualifications accept equivalent practical experience).

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities for this role include technical leadership of verification activities and delivery of high-quality verification infrastructure and results.

• Develop verification plans, testbenches, coverage strategies and verification IP for complex processor/DSP/AI accelerator and system-level designs.
• Execute verification using constrained-random, coverage-driven, assertion-based and formal methodologies.
• Debug RTL and system-level issues using simulation, emulation and formal analysis.
• Collaborate with architects and designers to review specifications and mitigate verification risks early.
• Develop reusable automation and infrastructure to improve team productivity and scalability.
• Analyze coverage and verification metrics and drive closure across projects.
• Contribute to process and methodology improvements and mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

• 4+ years of hardware design verification experience (or equivalent practical experience).
• Strong experience with SystemVerilog and UVM and modern verification methodologies.
• Experience verifying CPU, GPU, DSP, AI accelerator, networking or SoC designs.
• Solid understanding of computer architecture, microprocessor design and digital design fundamentals.
• Proficiency with programming/scripting (C, C++, Python or similar) for testbench and tooling development.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills across RTL, microarchitectural and system levels.

Nice-to-have:

• Experience with formal verification methodologies and tools.
• Experience with emulation, FPGA prototyping or post-silicon validation.
• Knowledge of AI/ML acceleration architectures, vector processing or custom compute engines.
• Experience with high-performance microprocessor or DSP architectures and low-power/performance verification techniques.

Education Requirements

Typical requirement: Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline. Master's or PhD in these fields is listed as preferred. The posting also accepts equivalent practical experience and provides alternate minimums (e.g., Bachelor's + relevant years of experience, Master's + reduced experience, or PhD).
